My New Baby

Just got this second hand for 150 AUD from a nice man name Ron.  It’s a  Pfaff 463-6 Plain Straight stitch machine.  This is my first industrial sewing machine.  I had it slowed down a bit (found out about that in a forum-thank god for the internet again!) so that sewing will be bit more manageable.

Actually Ron has this great business where he has machines that you can “rent to own”.  Diba pinoy na pinoy lol.  I might look into that when I’m ready to buy a buttonholer and zigzag machine.  I still have to complete payments on  my overlocker.  Malapit na:-)

Now I just have to find out where I can find sewing supplies and fabrics at a good price.

Dapat gamitin na ang powers namin sa Lotto

Yesterday I was worried that we didn’t have enough money.  It was just a lot of things happening at the same time.  Ryan got into Preshil which meant we already had to pay for the enrollment fee, Ian bought a new bike (for work, it would take less time to bike home than to take public transpo) and we paid for utilities.

When I woke up I checked our account online to see how much money we had when I was surprised to see that our money had doubled.  I was in such disbelief that I called ANZ to check why this happened.  Naku, pumasok na pala last pay ko from IBM and yung Family Benefit from the government.  AT THE SAME TIME!

So what did I do?  I went to the mall to put a down payment on the overlocker that’s on sale.  This is the great thing about Oz, you can do laybys.  Hulugan kung baga.  You give a downpayment and then make sure you pay the full amount within ten weeks.  And most of the stuff at the mall can be bought through layby.  Galing diba.

While I was walking home I saw that everything in “The Natural Source” was  50% off and so bought most of the stuff I was dying to buy since last week.

Tapos, Ian called me and told me that Real People, a talent agency just called us to schedule an appointment next week.  The agency hires “real” looking people for catalogs, commercials, and movies (extras).   So if ever they like us may racket na kami.

Diba nga naman, sabi nga ni Ian, “Oz the land of the lucky”.

Milestones

My baby at the breakfast table

This morning I checked the mailbox and got the official letter offering R a place in Preshil this coming February (first term in Oz).  One day in February he’ll start a whole new life without me - for six hours, three times a week.

But I’m secure in the thought though that he’ll be going to a great school with great people around him.  In February when I can take pictures of the school (I can’t take pictures because of the kids there and parents can only take pics once they sign an agreement with other parents) I’ll post them here.

Founded in the early 1930s by Margaret J R Lyttle, Preshil aims to fit the curriculum to the child, rather than forcing the child to fit the curriculum. Preshil staff understand that children are all different and develop at different rates. Thus, at Preshil, the child is allowed to work at his or her level of cognitive and emotional development.
